ANIMALE
2007 Pinot Noir - Oregon (Yamhill-Carlton) (27 cases produced) An elegant and varietally correct Pinot Noir from a 2-acre, family-farmed vineyard near Yamhill, Oregon. Sporting classic Pinot aromas of fresh roses and cola, with notes of cherry, and hints of dill, the cooler 2007 growing season made for both a mildly tangy mid-palate and surprisingly ample tannins, ensuring versatility when pairing with diverse foods such as grilled salmon or roast turkey; as well as ample structure to ensure a few years of cellaring.
2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (24 cases produced) The 2007 vintage in the Yakima Valley provided this perfectly ripened, old-vine, cool-climate, family-farmed Yakima Valley fruit. Classic Cabernet Sauvignon (perhaps even Bordeaux-like) aromas and flavors of fresh cherries and roasted red peppers, refreshingly balanced, enjoyable now, or suitable for some time in the cellar. 2007 Petite Sirah (60 cases produced) Petite Sirah is so rare in Washington that ANIMALE had to have these grapes planted. This third crop from the ANIMALE-planted 0.6-acre site near Sunnyside ripened fully while retaining classic Yakima Valley food-friendly acidity. Aromas of berries and spices, deep purple-black color, zesty complex flavors of fresh berries, plums, with hints of citrus, along with a pleasantly lingering finish.. 2006 Petite Verdot (44 cases produced) This low-profile (if not virtually unknown) Bordeaux varietal makes a powerful and intriguing wine when grown in Washington. From a family-farmed vineyard in the Columbia Valley's Wahluke Slope, the ANIMALE Petite Verdot has a deep and dark color, aromas of cherries with hints of cardamom and notes of minerals and stones; full-bodied, intense and concentrated, firm acidity and a long and powerful finish. This wine received a score of 90+ in the Wine Advocate. 2007 Syrah (45 cases produced) The ANIMALE Syrah is usually the heftiest of the lineup of wines, and this vintage is no exception. A blend of Syrah from both a cooler Yakima Valley (Prosser) growing site, contributing depth and spice, and a warmer Columbia Valley vineyard, contributing exuberant fruit, this wine exhibits classic Washington Syrah aromas of blackberries, boysenberries and freshly made jam, and a body so heavy it might be used as syrup, or as a meal in itself!
